+Circa 1860's, an impressive shield or 'boss' shaped brooch of Tortoiseshell inlaid with finest patterns of Silver and Gold accented with delightfully tiny florals, the technique known as 'Piqué'. It is believed that much of this work was undertaken in the jewellery workshops of Birmingham having been introduced from the Continent earlier in the century.
This piece measures an inch and half across and fastens with a simple 'C' clasp.
